James Garland Lewis “Sarge”, 75, of Beckley passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 following a short illness.
Born on January 6, 1950 in Beckley he was the son of the late Violet Marie Reed Moye and Clyde Wilford Lewis.
Sarge was of the Baptist faith. He served as a lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol. Sarge held many jobs including maintenance worker at Walmart, Sams and the Crossroads Mall. He never met a stranger and made a lot of friends in his lifetime. Sarge was a kind man who would help anyone who needed it. He was pleasant to everyone he met. Sarge loved working and would even walk to work no matter the weather when he had no transportation. He will be sadly missed.
In addition to his parents, Sarge was preceded in death by his first wife’s parents, Ernest and Mary Blevins; a special brother in law, James Blevins and a special friend Marsha Mullins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his second wife, Pamela Harvey Lewis; his first wife, Ernestine “Tiny” Lewis; one sister, Frances Moye Lilly; three adopted daughters who loved him dearly, Amanda, Valerie and Mecie; three sisters in law, Glenna, Carol and Sue; his dog, Charlie Brown; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Keeping with his wishes his body has been entrusted to Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors for cremation. There will be a memorial service at a later date.
