James Albert (Jimmy) Cochran, Sr.

Jimmy smiled as he left this world and entered Heaven?s gate Monday, April 16th, 2012 at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley following a long illness.

He was born September 10, 1938, at Warford and is preceded in death by his parents John Albert Cochran, Effie Lee Forren Cochran Cox and stepfather Earl E. Cox.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 45 years, Nancy Kay Hall Cochran; two sons, Ronald James Cochran and wife Tina of Swanton, Ohio; James Albert Cochran, Jr. and wife Alicia of Big Creek; and daughter Lynn Cochran Reed and husband Will of Nimitz. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Ronald James Cochran II and wife April of Swanton, Ohio; Rhonda Lynn Cochran Kowalski and husband Matt of Toledo, Ohio; Justin and Jeremy Reed of Nimitz; and Colton Zimmerman of Big Creek. Two precious great-grandchildren also survive: Leah May Cochran of Swanton, Ohio and Sawyer Nikolai Kowalski of Toledo, Ohio; a special niece Haley Rhaye Cochran of Ballard; one brother, Ralph Chester Cochran and wife Janet of Princeton and one sister, Sandra Kay Talbott and husband Richard of Talcott.

Jimmy knew Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was a faithful member of Rollynsburg Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. He dearly loved his family, his church, his country, and His Savior.

He was the former owner of Skaters? Haven in Hinton. Jimmy retired from serving his country after 26 years in the WV National Guard. After retiring from driving a school bus he became a substitute cook for the Summers County Board of Education. Jimmy was also the camp director and head cook at the Summers County 4H Camp for several years.

His favorite pastime was cooking and baking. He served up many a meal in his day to his buddies in the National Guard, his friends at church, kids at school and camp, and his family. You don?t know what you?ve missed if you haven?t been fed by the ?Old Goat?.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Rollynsburg Baptist Church with Pastors Dana Stalnaker and Eddie Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery on Powleys Creek. Friends may call from 6:00PM-9:00PM Thursday at the Rollynsburg Baptist Church in Talcott.
