Ida Mae Harrison

Ida Mae Harrison, 76, of Hinton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Summers Healthcare Center following a long illness.

Born December 10, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Rhoda Bennett Adkins. Ida resided in Fairfax, VA in her earlier years. She was a waiter and a manager of a Kentucky Fried Chicken before returning to Hinton. She was homemaker in her later years who enjoyed spending time with her daughter and granddaughters.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her companion, Gary Michael Hellems; three brothers, Jack, Dale and Cecil Adkins and one sister, Ethel Bower.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Shayanne Stracener and husband Cameron; two granddaughters, Maggie Menefee and Sophia Stracener; two sisters, Mamie Dunford and Judy Adkins; three brothers, Jimmy, Buck and Russell Adkins; numerous nieces and nephews.

Per her wishes, cremation services have been entrusted to the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Adkins family cemetery on Madams Creek. Please contact the family for more information about the services. We would also like to thank the nurses who cared for her during her stay at the Summers Healthcare Center in Hilldale, WV.
