Hubert Richmond

Hubert Basil Richmond, 87, of Danese, formerly of White Oak and Freezeland Mountain, passed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at Heartland of Rainelle, surrounded by his family, following as extended illness.Born on Freezeland Mountain, January 12, 1917, he was the son of the late Alexander and Sarah Bennett Richmond. He was the last surviving member of sixteen children.Mr. Richmond was a farmer and timberman for several years and worked for the West Virginia Department of Highway, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Little Bluestone Primitive Baptist Church at Streeter.Preceded in death by his wife Katherine Richmond, a daughter Sarah Christine Richmond, three grandchildren, Rex Allen Richmond Jr., and Manuel and Aaron Holton, two great grandson, Joseph Ray Meadows and Noah Alexander Richmond, five sisters, Ora Bennett, Virgie Cales, Myrtle Taylor, Zelphia Green and Elsie Bennett, and ten brothers, Howard, Elbert, Omer, Johnny, Jessie, Roy, Carl, Melvin, James and Calvin Richmond.Survived by eleven children whom he reared, along with their spouses; Georgia Southern of Great Falls, MT, Lowell Russell and wife Mildred of Hinton, Ivan Richmond and wife Darlene of Copley, OH, Jerry Richmond and wife Betsy of Moffatt, TX, Janice Meadows and husband Jimmy of Shady Spring, Linda Richardson and husband Earl of Nallen, Basil Omer Richmond and wife Sharon with whom he made his home, of Danese, Mannie Richmond and Rex Richmond and wife Barbara all of Freezeland Mountain, Doug Richmond and wife Linda of Clendenin, and Rebecca Richmond of Bean Station, TN, thirty-one grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Doug Richmond and Pastor Bill Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Family Cemetery on Freezeland Mountain. Friends may call at the funeral parlor from 6-9 P.M. Friday. His grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to the Richmond Family Cemetery, c/o Janice Meadows, 259 Mont Phillips Rd., Shady Spring, WV 25918
