Hubert L. â??Sonnyâ?? Pate, 67, of Pipestem, died at 1:25 A.M. Wednesday at the Princeton Community Hospital at Princeton, following a long illness. Born December 14, 1938 at Richmond, VA, he was the son of Mrs. Mildred Eleanor Parker Pate Fore of Amelia, VA and the late Samuel Jackson Pate. Sonny had lived most of his life in Summers Co., he was a retired mechanic for the Summers Co. Board of Education, he was a member of the Hinton Masonic Lodge, the Beni Kedim Shrine Temple at Charleston and a member of the Marantha Baptist Church at Princeton. Preceded in death by one brother, Michael Folland. Survived by his wife of twenty years, Virginia â??Gingerâ?? Deaver Pate, two daughters, Michelle Pate Gibson and husband Claude of Fredericksburg, VA and Susan Sears Powell of Pipestem, one son, Steve Sears of Pipestem, five grandchildren; David Michael Patrick, Virginia â??Ginnyâ?? Powell, Victoria â??Toriâ?? Powell, Hanna Nichole Gibson and Sarah Elizabeth Gibson, one great niece Cyann Shaffer and one great nephew, Ian Shaffer both of Bluefield, one brother, Claude C. â??Luckyâ?? Mann of Richmond, VA, one sister, Judy Martin of Waynesboro, VA, one aunt, Florence G. Woody of Richmond, VA and several cousins in Woodbridge, VA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Wallace Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery near Hinton. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-8 P.M. Friday.
