Homer Morgan

Homer Edgar Morgan, 87, of Hinton, beloved father, grandfather and friend lost his battle with cancer October 16, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.
Homer was born August 30, 1928 in Ronceverte, WV to the late Lee Roy and Bessie Miller Morgan. He had a forty-five plus years career as a Carman with the Railroad, he spent his retirement years with his wife gardening and working his beloved farm on Plumley Mountain and he was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his amazing wife, Shirley Simmons Morgan, a son, Cecil Morgan, daughter, Cheryl Morgan, two brothers, Joe and Ronald Morgan, two sisters, Leona Bostic and Zelma Morgan, two sons-in-law, Dallas Bennett and John Stewart and a great grandson, Anthony Morgan.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Susan Shrader (Ronnie), Ann Bennett both of Hinton and David Morgan (Miriam) of NC, grandchildren, Shelly Webb (Jimmy), Sabina Morgan, Amber Mills Stover (Frank) all of Beckley, Courtney Ford (Tucker) of Hinton, Alexis, David, Homer and Sebastian Morgan of NC and Jacob and Eli Morgan, great grandchildren, Jordan Webb, Katlin Bell (Charlie), Breanna Evans (Dustyn), Kyndall, Haley, James Robert and Billy Webb Morgan, Madelyn Stover, Emma and Sophie Ford, great great grandchildren, Lane Carpenter, Connor and Paisley Bell, Grayson and Madisyn Evans. He will also be missed by other close family and friends.
He leaves behind many wonderful memories full of strength, love and humor that will live on in and through his family.
At his request his body will be cremated and a private service will be held by the family at a later date.
