George Willard Adkins, 75, of Pipestem passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Bowers Hospice House on Sunday, January 25, 2026 from a sudden illness. He is now reunited with loved ones that have gone on before him.
Born November 27, 1950 in Hinton, he was a son of the late Clifford and Hallie Adkins.
He was employed by the Summers County Board of Education and was a truck driver for the City of Hinton.
Besides his mother and father, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Angel Adkins and Angela Adkins Petrey; a granddaughter, BreAnna Petrey; four brothers, Russell Adkins, Ronnie Adkins, Larry Adkins and Joey Adkins and three sisters, Rosie Adkins, Connie Adkins and Joyce Snow.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Audrey Yancey Adkins; three children, Timothy Adkins and wife Deanna of Princeton, George Adkins of Portage, IN and Anthony Adkins and companion Angela Miller of Pipestem; two brothers, Roger Adkins and Billy Adkins both of Hinton and two sisters, Betty Burgess of Hilldale and Bonnie Ward of Hinton.
George’s greatest joy was spending time with his seventeen grandchildren, Kyle Cooney, Dominic Adkins, Zachary Adkins, Megan Adkins, Christian Adkins, Madison Adkins, Aubrey Petrey, Shawna Adkins, Katie Jo Adkins, Brayden Petrey, Ryan Adkins, Sarah Adkins, Ryker Adkins, Zoeey Adkins, Ty Ty Adkins, Chloee Adkins and Penelope Adkins; six great grandchildren, Greyson Wickline, Alice Cooney, Aislinn Herendeen, Blair Adkins, Justin Richmond and Baby Adkins due soon; many nieces, nephews, cousins and in laws. A special thank you to his nephew, Keith Burgess; special brother in law, Timothy Yancey and son in law, Brady Petrey.
Funeral services will be 7:00 P.M. Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Tom and Dalene Coffman officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. until time of services Thursday at the funeral parlors. Burial will follow at a later date in the Esquire Cemetery.
