Geneva Fay Fox Tichenor, 87, of Beaver, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, at Main Street Care in Hinton, WV. Born on April 30, 1938, at Laird Memorial Hospital in Montgomery, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Raymond Fox and Bernice Mae Morgan Fox.
Geneva was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a proud graduate of Sandstone High School, Class of 1955. She later went on to pursue a career in nursing, graduating from the C&O Hospital School of Nursing in 1958 in Clifton Forge, Virginia. Geneva was dedicated to her patients throughout her 42-year career at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital (BARH). She began her career in the Pediatric Unit and, after its closure, transitioned to the Medical Surgical floor, where she retired as House Supervisor. Following retirement, she continued to volunteer at the hospital for many years.
On November 14, 1992, Geneva married Leo Laverne Tichenor. They shared years of happiness until Leo’s passing on February 9, 1998.
Preceded in death by her sister, Jewell Fleshman.
Geneva is survived by her loving daughter, Catherine Bowles Browning (Gary), her grandson Gregory J. Bowles, and her granddaughter Christi Bowles Stover (Garrett), as well as five cherished great-grandchildren: James W. Stover, Katelyn G. Bowles, John M. Stover, Parker J. Bowles, and Millie M. Stover. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends who will remember her fondly.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor with Walter Dekle officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville, WV. Friends may call from 1:00 pm until time of the services at the funeral parlors.
Serving as pallbearers will be Garrett Stover, James Stover, John Stover, Parker Bowles, David Fleshman, Ivan Leef, Eric Leef, and Matthew Montgomery.
Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Helmick, John Flowers and Jerry Looney.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
