Forrest Mingo

Dr. Forrest Matthew Mingo, 87 of Hinton died April 21, 2007 in the Summers County ARH following a short illness. Born July 4, 1919 in Richmond VA., he was the son of the late Charles â??Patsyâ?? and Daisy Elizabeth Belcher Mingo. Dr. Mingo was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hinton and was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1944 until 1947 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. Dr. Mingo had attended Bluefield College and was a graduate of Concord College and a 1944 graduate of Northwestern University School of Dentistry in Chicago. He was a native of Bluefield and moved to Hinton in 1947 where he practiced Dentistry until his retirement in 2003. He was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman and was a wonderful friend and caring father. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Baldwin Mingo. Two sisters Winnie Shumate and Patty Martino and two brothers Dr. Wirt Mingo and Dr. Prince Mingo. Survived by two daughters, Carolyn White Mingo of Statesville, NC.And Pamela Mingo-Sain and husband Timothy of Talking Rock, Georgia.

Funeral Information: Memorial Services will be at 3pm Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church of Hinton with Rev. Barbara Romfo officiating. There will be no visitation and donations of sympathy should be made to the Summers County Hospital Auxiliary. The family of Dr. Mingo wishes to thank the Summers County ARH and Dr. Day and their staffs for the wonderful care that was given during their fatherâ??s illness.
