Floyd C. "Buddy" Meador, 78, of Zephyrhills, FL formerly of Forest Hill went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Gulfside Center for Hospice Care in Zephyrhills, FL following a long illness.
Born September 17, 1938 in True he was the son of the late Lark McDowell and Ruthy Mandy Bonds Meador. Buddy served his country for 2 years in the United States Army with 18 months being spent in Germany with 2 additional years being spent in the National Guard. He worked at Dixie Dinette in Richmond, VA for 11 years and for Stoneville Furniture in Stoneville, NC for 30 years until his retirement in 2001 to Zephyrhills, FL. He enjoyed gardening, collecting sports cards, landscaping, the outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Dorris June Mann Meador and nine brothers, Kenneth, Andrew, Walter, Gary, Raymond, Virgel, Marvin, Darry and Leo Meador and sister-in-law, Barbara Meador .
Survived by his wife, Bertha "Helen" Meador of Zephyrhills, FL; two sons, Drake Carl Meador of Zephyrhills, FL and Quilla B. Meador and wife Tracy of Martinsville, VA; grandson, Christopher Davis and wife Austin of Martinsville, VA; granddaughter, Angel Meador of Martinsville, VA; three great grandchildren, Aubrey, Lilly and Carson; sister, Francis Ward of Okeechobee, FL and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Rev. Scott Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Meador Family Cemetery at Forest Hill.
Quilla Meador, Donald Runyon, John Runyon, Joe Bowman, Drake Meador, Danny Blevins, Kevin Blevins, Jimmy Runyon and Brandon Runyon will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Meador Family Fund in care of Helen Meador 6930 20th Street Zephyrhills, FL 33542.
