Flora Loretta Simmons Smith

     Flora Loretta Simmons Smith, 84, of Summers County went home to be with the Lord Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Mercer Healthcare Center following a long illness.

      Born July 6, 1939, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Flora B. Weir Simmons.

      Flora was a graduate of Brookville High School in Lynchburg, VA. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Jumping Branch Elementary School.  Flora enjoyed cooking and taking walks around Hinton.

      Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Junior Lee Smith; two sisters, Ella Rae Gill and Leanna Mae Christian.

      Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Ronald Eugene Parrish and wife Thelma Jane of North Chesterfield, VA.

      Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.  Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. until time of service on Saturday.
