Finley Eugene Bennett, 73, of Lugoff, SC, formerly of Nimitz, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 18, 2004 at 5:10 P.M. at Palmetto Baptist Hospital, Columbia, SC.Born in Summers Co., on April 17, 1931, he was a son of the late Roscoe and Anel Harvey Bennett.Mr. Bennett had lived most of his life at Nimitz, and retired to Lugoff in 1997. He was retired from the CSX Railroad after working as a Conductor for forty-two years. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in Anchorage, Alaska for two years. He was a member of the Harvest Baptist Church of Lugoff, SC.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Bennett.Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Frances Mills Bennett, one son, Steve Bennett and wife Diana of Harrisville, WV, one daughter, Teresa Davis and husband John of York, SC, two granddaughters, Deanna Boothe and husband Mike of Washington, WV and Melissa Bennett of Parkersburg, WV two great grandchildren, Josh and Hailey Boothe of Washington, WV, two brothers, Glenn Bennett and wife Flossie of Lewisburg, WV and Joe Bennett and wife Dot of Nimitz, WV, five sisters, Marlene Hatcher and husband Lionel of Teays Valley, WV, Bonnie Wykle and husband Tom of Talcott, WV, Mary Houchins and husband Benny of Jumping Branch, WV, Wilma Anderson and husband Leonard of Nimitz, WV and Iva Kay Lilly and husband Jack of Lewisburg, WV, one sister-in-law Patsey Bennett of Lerona, WV and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton, WV with Pastor Bill Dulaney of the Harvest Baptist Church of Lugoff, SC officiating. Music will be provided by soloist Jerry Lee also of Lugoff, SC. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz, WV. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday. His nephews will serve as pallbearers and members of the Harvest Baptist Chruch will serve as honorary pallbearers.
