Ethel Lilly

March 19, 1930 — November 2, 2015

(March 19, 1930-November 2, 2015)

Ethel "Little Ett" Lilly, 85 of Nimitz, went to be with her Lord and Savior on the evening of November 2, 2015 after a long struggle with health. She was surrounded by family and friends at the time of her passing.
Ethel brought life to a room and she liked to laugh. People who knew her will remember her witty New England humor and accent, her occasional directness in opinion, her love of social gatherings and dancing and that her heart, love and appreciation of those around her only expanded in age.
She was born in Fall River, MA, March 19, 1930 to immigrant parents from England. It was there in Fall River that Ethel, a city girl, met and fell in love with James "Jim Bob" Lilly, a country boy from Nimitz, WV. She would later marry Jim and move to his family's farm, and the city girl, with the help of her new Nimitz family and community, soon transitioned from swing dancing and jazz to mountain flat-footing and banjo. If music was playing then she was the first to begin dancing.
Ethel was a wife, partner, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker with Jim to whom she was inseparable for over 62 years. She was a faithful member of the Bluestone Baptist Church for over 30 years.
She is preceded in death by husband, James Robert Lilly, and Parents, Frank & Rachel Stanford; Siblings, Edith Stanford, twin Brother Frank Stanford Jr., Harold & Dottie Stanford and Elsie & Clifford Dollinger and her favorite canine companion, Jack.
Her legacy lives in that of her surviving family members including her Sister, Alice Bednarz of Fall River, MA, Brother Raymond Stanford of Pipestem, WV; Brother-in-law and wife, Henry & Elaine Lilly; Children, Debbie & Steve Rollyson, Donna Rollyson & Alan Lilly;former Son-in-law, Chuck Rollyson; Grandchildren, Melissa & Nathan Price, Laura & Kenny Howell, Adrian & Michele Rollyson & Andy Rollyson; Great-grandchildren, David "DJ" Staley, Madison Rollyson, Kash & Rhyce Howell and Paisley & Gracin Price; Nieces & Nephews, Rick & Sheila Lilly, Susan Lively, Kyle Lively, Lakyn Lively, Adyson Carr, McKaylah Lilly & Nicholas Lilly.
The family would like to thank all of Ethel's wonderful friends, neighbors and her fellow members of the community in addition to the Bluestone Baptist Church, Pastor Bill Fox, The Beckley ARH Staff, the Princeton Community Hospital staff, Davita Dialysis, Southern WV Hospice and all involved for their care, love and support throughout this process.
Funeral services will be held at Bluestone Baptist Church on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Bill Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. Thursday and one hour prior to services at the church.
Pallbearers will be Adrian and Andy Rollyson, Chuck and Steve Rollyson, Rick Lilly and Nathan Price.
