Mr. E. C. ?Jack? Harvey, 77, of Hinton, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at The Greystone Inn at Beaver, following a long illness.Born August 25, 1926 at Buck, in Summers Co., he was a son of the late Eustus Clinton and Mayme Huffman Harvey.Mr. Harvey was a lifelong resident of Summers Co. He was a retired conductor for the CSX Corp., after 44 years of service. He was a member of the United Transportation Union and had served as the local secretary ? treasurer for many years. He was a member of the Hinton First United Methodist Church, a fifty year member of the Hinton Masonic Lodge #62 and the Summers Co. Farm Bureau. He was an avid conservationist and cattle farmer who was selected for many district and regional awards by the Southern Soil Conservation District and was a state finalist as WV farmer of the year by the State Soil Conservation.Preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Lowry and one brother, John Harvey.Survived by his wife of 56 years, Agnes Whanger Harvey, two sons; Tom Harvey and wife Linda of Lowell and Jack Harvey and wife Janice of Centreville, VA, one daughter, Ann Gore of Hinton, seven Grandchildren; Tom Harvey, Krista Fix, Rich Lytle, Karen and Matt Harvey, and Michael and Thomas Gore, two Great- Grandsons, Colton and Cade Fix, three Sisters; Glenna Saunders of Beckley, Dorothy Harmon of Pittsburgh, PA and Madeline Reed of Ft. Collins, CO.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Hinton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens at Hinton. Friends may call at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton from 6-9 P.M. Tuesday and at the church one hour prior to services.His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy should be made to the Hinton First United Methodist Church.
