Elizabeth "Betty" Ellen Richmond Davis, 84, of Sandstone went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Raleigh General Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born March 4, 1934 at Sandstone she was a daughter of the late John and Nelsie Ayers Gunter.
Betty was a member of the Ramp Holiness Church, a homemaker and a life-long resident of Summers County. She enjoyed flowers and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Betty especially enjoyed fixing mac and cheese for Dylan and Bailey whom she helped raise.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Charles Edward Richmond; her second husband Albert Davis; two daughters, Brenda Hicks and Rosa Hackathorn; grandson in law, Cory Carr; one brother, Lemley Gunter and son in law William Hicks.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Charles "Chuck" Richmond and wife Wanda of Sandstone, Gerald Richmond and wife Lorie Fox of Little Wolf Creek; two daughters, Nancy Miner and husband Mark of North Carolina, Teresa Richmond of North Carolina; ten grandchildren, Michael Richmond, Arlisha Carr, Anthony Richmond, Angela Richmond, Eric Miner, David Hackathorn, Christopher Hackathorn, Adam Richmond, Shawn and Brandon Willard; nine great grandchildren whom she loved dearly; a dear friend, Jean Fox; four brothers, James "Jim" Gunter and wife Harriet of Sandstone, Bobby Gunter and wife Norma of Hinton, Forest Gunter of Hinton, Johnny Gunter of Shady Spring; three sisters, Maxine Maxwell of Lerona, Patty Osborne and husband Tommy of Shady Spring and Lucille Williams of Green Sulphur.
Funeral services will be 12:00 pm Monday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Felix Baker and John Wesley Richmond officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery at Sandstone. Friends may call from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
