Obituary

Douglas “Luke” Wayne Ward, 70, of Shady Spring went to his eternal reward Monday, October 5, 2026 at White Sulphur Springs Center following a long illness.

Born October 18, 1955 in Hinton he was a son of the late Clarence and Macil Adkins Ward.

Luke was a member of the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church and a former funeral director and embalmer. He enjoyed wood working, playing guitar and singing.

Luke was preceded in death by five brothers, Harry, Harold, Ray, Harding and Curly Joe Ward and five sisters, Mary Sue Frazier, Judy Copen, Dreama Cox, Connie Cox and Diane Lilly.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 49 years Brenda Bennett Ward; one sister Phyllis Gillian and husband Steve; special cat, Itty Bitty and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 8, 2026 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Bill Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Vest Family Cemetery at Madams Creek. Visitation will be from noon until time of services on Thursday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Lesa Buckland for all her care and support given.
