Dorothy P. Adkins, of Talcott went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 12, 2006 in the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center at Fairlea, following a long illness. Born in Summers Co. she was a daughter of the late John and Caroline Bennett Sears. She was a homemaker who attended the Rollynsburg Baptist Church at Talcott. Preceded in death by her husband, Arnett Adkins in 1969, one daughter, Freda Hicks in 1998, two grandsons, Gary Hicks in 1979 and Jonathan Hicks in 2000. Survived by five daughters, Jerolee Adkins of Talcott, Norma Hicks and her husband Lloyd of Hinton, Arnell Seldomridge and her husband Timothy of Lewisburg, Cindy Spangler and her husband Robert of Charlotte, N.C., and Wilma Gardisky of Hinton; one son, Howard Adkins and his wife Betty of Talcott; ten grandchildren, Melissa Workman, David Hicks and his wife Velma, Eric Hicks, Jay Adkins, Lori Seldomridge, Robert Spangler Jr. and his wife Emily, Joshua Spangler, Brandi Seldomridge, Robert Gardisky and Justin Adkins; nine great grandchildren, Tyler Seldomridge, Brandon Workman, Scotty Reed, Téa Workman, Kacey Hicks, Summer Adkins, Alexis Dean, Caleb Hicks and Schuyler Adkins; one brother, Paul Sears of Hinton; two sisters, Norman Garten and Lottie Parker both of Talcott. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Sunday January 15, 2005 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Ernest â??Jimâ?? Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. on Saturday at the Funeral Parlors. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
