Donald Pennington

Don Pennington, 85, of Hinton, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 14 2004 after an extended illness. Don was born November 9, 1918 at Princeton, WV. Don was the son of the late Charles M. Pennington & Susan Snyder Pennington. He was the youngest and last survivor of nine children. He was a member of Bellepoint Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and financial secretary for many years. Don was a gifted craftsman in electronics. He was an electronics maintenance supervisor for the C&O Railroad until his retirement in 1983. He was also known as the letter K8IZD to the amateur radio club for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Aleutian Islands. He was survived by his wife of sixty years Beulah Cales Pennington & two sons Larry Pennington and wife Elizabeth of Wirtz, VA. Jerry Pennington and wife Debbie of Rainelle, WV, A grand-daughter Connie Pennington and husband Steve Hamel of Johnson City, Tennessee. Also surviving several nieces and nephews including, Ernestine Pennington and Danny Pennington of Speedway, WV, Helen, Charles and Danny Howell of Bluefield, WV. Special brothers and sisters-in-laws, Dr. Darrell Cales and Marilyn McGuire of Rainelle, WV., Claude and Mary Cales of Parkersburg, WV., June Willey of Hinton. Funeral service will be held 1.pm Saturday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Donald Hannah and D.D. Elwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial Gardens at Clintonville WV. Friends may call at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors from 6 to 9pm Friday. Active pallbearers Jason Gore, Dennis Williams, Kent Bartgis, Steve Pack, Bob Sims, John Harmon, Norman Loudermilk, John Coiner, Roy Carter, and Amateur Radio Club Members. Honorary Pallbearers Ted Bartgis, Francis ?Babe? Yancey, Lonnie Goins, Howard Woodrum, Randy Cales, and Harry Turner.
