Donald George Martus, 99, of Jumping Branch, formerly of Michigan passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Raleigh Center following a long illness, just two days shy of his 100th birthday.

Born March 7, 1926, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, he was a son of the late Leo Bernard and Helen Blanche Martus.

Donald was of the Catholic faith. He was a proud United States Navy Veteran who had served in World War II. Donald was a graduate of the University of Detroit with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and was certified as a Professional Consultant. Donald was a vintner (winemaker), winning many blue ribbons at both the Michigan and West Virginia State Fairs. He was a hardworking man who raised a beautiful family. Donald loved sailing, ice boating, and mechanical engineering. He also formerly worked at Winterplace.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta L. Martus; two sons, Douglas Paul Martus and Mark Patterson Martus Sr.; one grandson, Mark Patterson Martus Jr.; three brothers and one sister.

Those left to cherish his memory include his five children, Donald George Martus Jr. and wife Mari Reyez, Linda A. Martus, Amy E. Angell and husband Mickey, Christopher J. Martus Sr. and wife Ann and Cynthia M. Martus and fiancé Nathan Caspers; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren, and a special friend, Mandy Jennings.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors & Cremation Care Center and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Raleigh Center caregivers for all the care and compassion shown to Donald during his stay.
