Donald Lee Hannah

Donald Lee Hannah, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on December 24, 2023.  Preceding him in death was his wife of 70 years, Rose (Pack) Hannah.  Surviving him are his four children and their spouses, Teresa and Jeb Wallace of Troutville, VA, Montgomery and Tina Hannah of Hinton, WV, Jennifer and Mark Ellison of Nimitz, WV and Jonathan and Peggy Hannah of Fishersville, VA.  Also surviving him are four grandchildren, Evan (Megan), Matt (Brooke), Ian and Ava., and two great-granddaughters (Elayna and Riley) with a great-grandson on the way.

Don was born in Hinton, WV and was the only child of Roscoe and Grace Hannah.  He took great pride in having been a Boy Scout, and later a Boy Scout leader.  During the Korean War, he served his country as an Army Signal School

radar instructor.  After completing his service, he returned to Hinton and opened his own radio and TV repair shop.  In 1956 he and Rose moved to Los Angeles, California, where he pursued his love of electronics as an employee of Hughes Aircraft and then as Plant Manager Supervisor for Key Register Corporation.

In 1962 Don returned to Hinton, WV.  Over the next decades he worked at the Hinton Post Office, served on the Summers County Board of Education, was Summers County Hospital Chaplain, and served on the Summers County Board of Health.

In 1969 Don was ordained as a minister.  He served as pastor to Little Wolf Creek Baptist Church, Sandstone Baptist and Nimitz Missionary Baptist Church, where he preached his last sermon on November 26, 2023.  He built and operated a Christian youth summer program, The Light of the World Day Camp.  In the 1970-1980’s he was instrumental in organizing church youth rallies, Christian crusades and the Christian Jubilee.  Don also developed radio and internet ministries which he

continued until his homegoing.  His deepest desire was to serve his Lord until his life here was finished.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Nimitz Missionary Baptist Church with Pastors Junior Moye and Gary Trout officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lilly Crews Cemetery at Nimitz.  Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until time of services Wednesday at the church.  Grandsons and men of the church will serve as pallbearers.  In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy may be made to Nimitz Missionary Baptist Church Missions account at 172 Sand Springs Road, Nimitz WV 25978.
