Danny W. "Rookie" Richmond passed from this life into the loving hands of God at the age of 60 years on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at his home.
Born August 15, 1954 at Sandstone he was the sixth child of seven given to the late Homer and Mattie Ward Richmond. Besides his parents those waiting to welcome him home are a brother Jeddy E. Richmond, a nephew, Gary Nelson Richmond and a great grandson, Aiden Alexander Jackson.
Those left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Jamie L. Jackson and companion Matthew Stalnaker of Beech Run; a son Shawn Richmond of Hinton; a stepdaughter, Hope Earhart whom he helped raise; three brothers, Eddie Richmond of Hix, Scottie J Richmond of Hix and Gary Richmond and wife Karen of Chestnut Mt. with whom he made his home; three sisters, Shirley Sharp of Pikeville, KY, Judy Marcoyannakis and husband Orestos of Richmond, VA and Joyce Richmond of Sandstone; five grandchildren, Brooke and Bruce Jackson, Luke Stalnaker, Jacob and Katlyn Richmond and one great grandchild, Avah Grace Jackson. Several special nieces who helped take care of him, Felisha Hartwell, Samantha Wills, Kristie and Alexis Richmond.
Rookie was honored to have served in the United State Army and continued to show his patriotism throughout his life. He worked as a carpenter, roofer and he enjoyed making grapevine furniture, hunting and spending time outdoors. He was of the Baptist Faith and he had many friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside service and burial will be held on 2:30 pm Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Richmond Family Cemetery on Chestnut Mtn. with Pastor Benny Allen officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:30 pm.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of Southern WV and Justin Lancianese.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
