Daniel Adkins

Daniel Paul Adkins, 83, of True gained his heavenly wings Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Princeton Community Hospital following a short illness.

Born September 15, 1937 in Raleigh County. He was the son of the late Grover and Ruth Sexton Adkins and his step mother Edra Adkins.

Daniel was a coal miner, member of UMWA, formerly attended Cooks Chapel Baptist Church, enjoyed hunting, going to football games and spending time with his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by; wife, Agnes Palmer Adkins; children, Patricia, Kathryn Adkins, Daniel Paul Adkins, Dora Faris, Danny Paul Adkins, one grandson; Andy Adkins, one great grandson; Logan Hartwell, one brother; Ray Adkins.

Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters, Mary Huffman and husband Bryan of Wayside, Melissa Ward and husband Daniel of Sandstone, Ruth Hartwell and husband Doug of Sand Knob; twelve grandchildren, Elijah, Justin, Leslie Dawn, Danni Jo, Carrie, Samantha, Matthew, Dennis, Thomas, Katie, Austin and Joshua; thirty four great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; six brothers, Charles Adkins, Frank Adkins and wife Margaret of Pipestem, Roger Adkins of Hinton, Cletis Adkins and wife Sue Ellen of Hilldale, David Adkins and wife Julie of Hilldale, and James Adkins of Hilldale; five sisters, Melda Phillips of Lerona, Twila Freeman of S.C., Connie Woodrum and husband Tom of Hinton, Judy Lilly of Beckley, and Carolyn Sherwood of Hilldale.

For the safety of the family and the community the services will be private with Pastor Dallas Peyton officiating.  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
