Charles Ray Surbaugh Jr., 72, of Hinton passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Bowers Hospice House on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Born March 24, 1953 in Hinton Charles, known to many as Charlie was a son of the late Charles and Margaret Tate Surbaugh.

Charlie spent many years working as a mechanic, a profession that perfectly suited his lifelong love of cars. A quiet and humble man, he found happiness in the simple things in life. He will be remembered for his steady presence, skilled hands, and the quiet way he showed care for those around him. Charlie will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Darnell Surbaugh and John Surbaugh.

Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Sara Surbaugh; two beloved grandchildren, Shaelynn and Liam, who were the pride and joy of his life; five sisters, Patricia Graham and husband Cecil, Debra Meador and husband Roger, Teresa Surbaugh, Brenda Allen and husband Jeff, and Regina Trout; one brother, Keith Surbaugh and wife Kim and his lifelong friend, Laura Reece.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors and Cremation Care Center. A family gathering will be held at a later date.
