Carolyn Adkins Sherwood

     Carolyn Adkins Sherwood, 75, of Hilldale passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.

     Born October 22, 1947 at True, WV she was a daughter of the late Henry G. and Edra Wills Adkins.

     Carolyn was a Hinton High School graduate. Before she retired she was a correction officer at the Women’s Federal Prison at Alderson.  She was a great cook, homemaker and caretaker. Carolyn enjoyed reading, growing flowers and watching the birds and hummingbirds. She adored her family and tried to mother them all. Carolyn was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a special place in her heart for her son, Richard Crisp and his girlfriend Rhonda Trainum, her granddaughter, Kennedy Crisp and great granddaughter Kambrie Treadway. She will be greatly missed by her family.

     Carolyn was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray, Dan, Charlie and Roger Adkins and three sisters, Judy Lilly, Connie Woodrum and Twilla Freeman.

     She is survived by four brothers, Frank Adkins and wife Margaret of True, Cleatis Adkins and wife Sue of Hilldale, James Adkins of Hilldale and David Adkins and wife Julie of Hilldale; one sister, Melda Phillips of Lerona; a special friend, Margie Temple of Hinton and several nieces, nephews and in laws.

     At Carolyn’s request her body has been entrusted to Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors for cremation and there will be no services.
