Bonnie Jean Garten Bennett, 80, of Judson went home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Summers Co. ARH following a lingering illness.
Born April 18, 1935 in Summers Co. she was the daughter of the late Odle and Ruby Saunders Garten. Bonnie will be loved and missed by family, friends, community and her longtime church family. She touched many lives during her time on earth and will be forever remembered as being a kind, gentle and generous soul.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a twin sister, Barbara Garten Plumley as well as a brother Norman Ray Garten.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 57 years, Rev. Lawrence Bennett; four children, Michael Bennett and wife Linda, Greg Bennett, Myra Bennett Moore and Jeffery Bennett. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Sheri Bennett Houchins and husband Ben, Lyndsey Bennett Diederich and husband Matt, Michael "A.J." Bennett Jr. and wife Indy, Brandon Lee Ward and wife Jordan, Miricle Moore Brown and husband Cliff, Destiny Moore, Gracie Moore, Samantha Bennett Lester and husband Andrew, Tyler Bennett, Brittany Bennett Delrosario and husband Jeff, Josh Bennett and Amanda Bennett; Eight great grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Garten and wife Marlene of Roanoke, VA; two sisters, Christine Hazelwood and husband Fred of Hagerstown, MD and Retha Garten of O'Brien, FL.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, January 1, 2016 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Bobby Reed and Ralph Hubbard officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral parlors. Burial will follow at the Bennett Family Cemetery at Judson.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Ward, Cliff Brown, Thomas and Nathan Grimett, Matt Diederich and Jr. Merrill.
Arrangements are by the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors of Hinton.
