Bobby Joe Cales, 77 of Zion Mountain went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by his loving family, Thursday, August 21, 2025 at his home.

Born November 24, 1947, in Hinton, to the late James Harlow and Carrie Elizabeth Fox Cales.

Joe dearly loved two things in life, his family and playing bluegrass music. Joe was known as a talented musician and tenor singer. His legacy and love for bluegrass music will live on in his sons, grandchildren and family for years to come.

Joe was preceded in death by his two brothers, James Reginald Cales and Thomas Okey Cales; five brothers in law, Jackie, Donald, Ronald, Pete and Bill Wheeler and his mother in law, Shirley Wheeler.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Sue Wheeler Cales; three children, Michael Lee Cales I and wife Kimberly, Bobby Lynn Cales and wife Stacy and Susan Dawn “Baby” Dickenson and husband Jason “Buck”; five grandchildren, Michael L. Cales II and wife Sarah, Carrie J. Weikle and husband Shawn, Dakota J. Cales and significant other Mary Jane, Jaiden A. Dickenson and companion Ella and Mylee M. Dickenson; five great grandchildren, Colton and Kenna Weikle, Ivy and Cullen Cales and Jude Cales; twin brother, Billy Jack Cales and wife Karen; other surviving family, Mary White, Jinja Cales, Ernie and Becky Wheeler, Garry and Diana Wheeler, Jerry Wheeler and Delilah Campbell, Jimmy and Pat Wheeler and Johnny and Karen Wheeler; special niece, Asenath Easter as well as a host of many special family and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastors Robbie Merritt and Bradley Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Mountain Point Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank the staff of Second Floor of Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital and Kameron Martin of Hospice of Southern West Virginia for the special care they provided.
