Bobby R. Bennett, 86, of Beckley passed away Monday, July 8, 2019 at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness. Born March 3, 1933 at Pluto he was the son of the late Ed and Sadie Bennett.
Mr. Bennett was a timberman in his early years, and he retired from the State of WV with 29 years of service.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers.
Survived by his wife of 61 years, Lanie Bennett of Beckley; two sons, Bobby Bennett and wife Lisa of Oak Hill and Lee Bennett of Beaver; one daughter, Betty Fischer and husband Terry of Conway SC; three grandchildren, Angela Farmer and husband Corey of Elkhorn City, KY, Sam Bennett of Stuart, VA and Daniel Bennett of Bolt and one great granddaughter, Abby Bennett.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens near Hinton. Friends may call from 11:00 am until service time on Wednesday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Bowers Hospice House 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV.
