Betty Upton

Betty Louise Upton, 72, of Hinton passed away Friday, January 24, 2020 at Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation following a long illness.

Born March 1, 1947 at Hinton she was a daughter of the late Orville and Macie Bower Young.

Betty was a homemaker of the Protestant faith. She was a lifelong resident of Summers County. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Upton; one brother, Tommy Young and one sister, Loretta Gill.

She was survived by her children, D.D. Gill of North Carolina, Janet Triplett of Ballard, Jr. Gill of Pence Springs, Sunshine Hartley and husband Jason of North Carolina and Nellie Humphreys of Fairmont; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a special friend, Nancy Hopps.

At her request the body has been cremated and there will be no services.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation for the love and care given to Betty.
