Betty Frances Meadows

 On June 25th Betty Frances Meadows was finally granted her rest. Born January 16, 1935 to the late Hannah Sanford and Stella Elder Meadows Betty was raised in Abraham. She was the last of that family with 5 brothers- H.S. Jr, Bobby, James, Ray, and Tommy, and 2 sisters, Berchie and Macie, preceding her.

She was married nearly 60 years to Denvil Jessie Meadows of Freezeland Mountain. In 2012 he left us for the only place more beautiful than their farm. There is no doubt he waited twelve years at the Gates to hold her hand as she walked through.

 Betty began her family and worked several years at Beckley Manufacturing until she took classes to become an LPN. It was then that she found her life’s work in nursing. She found so much satisfaction in her work and her hospital family at Summers County that she did not retire until age 78. She spent over 42 years caring for others, and often joked that she had given more old men baths than any woman in the country.

  In addition to nursing, Betty found joy in her garden and church family. Although her yard was likely her favorite place to be, she loved to travel. Betty enjoyed sight seeing, junk-stores, and a good meal. She was adventurous and liked to see and do new things. Betty genuinely loved life and said many times in her last days that everyone should just be happy.

  Left to mourn her loss are her two sons Ronald and wife Sharon of True, and Donnie of Freezeland Mtn. She hated to leave her beloved granddaughters (and loafing partners) - Jessica Neubert (Jessie) and husband Frank of Shady Spring, and Jodi Richmond of True. She also cherished her great-grandchildren Sierra and Hailey Neubert, and Riley and Atley Richmond.

 The family hopes that everyone who’s life Betty touched in some way will join us to celebrate her legacy life. Anyone who wishes will be able to say something about her.

 Services will be Saturday June 29, 2024 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton. Visitation will begin at 11am with Pastors Bill Fox and Robbie Merritt officiating her funeral at 1pm. Burial will follow at Restwood Memorial Gardens.
