Betty Jane Foster

 Betty Jane Foster, 85, of Marie went home to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior and reunited with her husband Carl, Thursday August 1, 2024, at Lewis Gale Medical Center Salem, VA surrounded by her family.

 Born January 22, 1939, at Pipestem, she was a daughter of the late Roy J. and Francis G. Kirk Houchins. Betty attended Freedom Baptist Church at Powley’s Creek as long as her health permitted. She was a graduate of Hinton High School and a homemaker who enjoyed listening to hymns, gardening, canning, cooking, watching her birds and chipmunks, word puzzles and spending time with her family.

 Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Carl Lee Foster; siblings, Bonnie Benninghove, Judy Hurst, John Houchins Sr., Fred Houchins and an infant brother, Larry Houchins.

 Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Cathy Vass and husband Richard of Manassas, VA and Cheryl Foster and Rick Frazier of Marie; one son, David Foster of Marie; six grandchildren, Scottie, Alicia, Jacob, Maggie, Daniel and Renae; several great grandchildren; three siblings, Mildred Jennings, Carol Boling and husband Carl and Leslie Houchins and wife Cindy and a very special friend and caregiver, Nicole Duvall of Marie.

 Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery at Forest Hill. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of services on Tuesday at the funeral parlors.

 Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
