Basil Omer Richmond, 73, of Danese went home to be with the Lord, Saturday November 13, 2021 at his home following a long illness.
Born June 11, 1948 at Freezeland Mountain, he was a son of the late Hubert Basil and Mary Katherine Russell Richmond. A veteran of the United States Army having served his country during the Vietnam War he was employed by Beckley Wrecking Auto Parts and Advance Auto Parts in Beckley until his retirement where he was awarded the Top Fifth Salesman Award. Omer loved to farm, raise a garden, playing music and spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly Sharon Richmond; sister, Sarah Christine Richmond and three brothers, Lowell Russell, Jerry Lee and Mannie Overton Richmond.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sharon Keller Richmond of Danese; son, Edward Wayne Richmond of Danese; two grandsons, Jayden Alexander and Xavier Zachary Richmond of Danese; four sisters, Georgia Southern of Great Falls, Montana, Janice Meadows and husband Jimmy of Shady Spring, Linda Richardson of Nallen and Rebecca Richmond of Tennessee; three brothers, Ivan Richmond and wife Darlene of Ohio, Rex Richmond and wife Barbara of Hinton, and Douglas Richmond of Shady Spring; sister-in-law, Betsy Richmond of Texas; aunt, Faye Miller of Hinton and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services and burial will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the Richmond Family Cemetery with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery from 12:30 pm until service time.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
