Basil Green Adkins Jr., 86, of Shady Spring has went to be with our Lord Sunday, September 6, 2026 at University of TN Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born January 29, 1940 in Jumping Branch he was a son of the late Basil Green Adkins Sr. and Versie Okes Adkins.

Basil was a farmer who enjoyed gardening, attending church activities and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Basil was preceded in death by his wife, Freida Adkins; two infant children; one daughter, Nancy Karen Bennett; one grandson, Justin and five brothers, Luther C. Adkins, Velmer Adkins, Claron Adkins, Clyde Adkins and one infant brother.

Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Kevin Adkins; four grandchildren, Joshuah, Devin and Michael Adkins and Gerald Bennett; four great grandchildren; step children, Eddie Darrell, Timothy Dasil, Burley Dale, and Marvin Wade Mitchem, Debra Anne Terry and several step grandchildren.

His Christian Life Celebration will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Little Bluestone Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Tommy Pack officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at Cool Ridge. Visitation will be from noon until time of services on Saturday at the church. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
