Alice F. "Susie" Allen Reed, 65, of Hinton went to be with the Lord Thursday July 23, 2015 following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born March 3, 1950 in Hinton she was the daughter of the late Charlie O. and Marie Allen. A 1968 graduate of Hinton High School she went on to become a loving wife and stay at home mom, loved photography and took a lot of photos of eagles around the New River near Hinton. Alice was the family historian and loved to look up family history for her family and many others as well.
Preceded in death by her brother, Norman Dean Allen and a sister, Anna M. Lilly.
Alice is survived by her loving husband, Ben Reed of Hinton; three children, Kimberly Hannah and husband Mike of Hinton, Melanie Cales and husband James of Hinton and Michael Reed and wife Young Ju of Daegu, South Korea; three grandchildren, Chelsey Harvey, Nick Harvey and Dakota Harding; one great-grandchild, Ashton Harvey; five sisters, Mary Kay Nabholz of Clovis, NM and Sara Ballengee of Beckley, Juanita Harris and husband Bill of Trouteville, VA, Jenny Fox and husband Alfred of Covington, VA and Linda Jones and husband Randy of Marie; one brother, Edgar Lee "Pedro" Allen and wife Phyllis of Fincastle, VA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial will be held 2:00 pm Sunday July 26, 2015 at the Lilly-Crews Cemetery with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Walk for Her Lifetime in care of Donna Baker, HC 85 Box 307, Jumping Branch, WV 25969.
