Albert William "Alb" Ward, 85 of 9103 Judson Rd. Hinton passed away February 20, 2015 peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Born October 27, 1929 in Summers County he was the son of the late Friend McDonald and Rena Ann Jones Ward. A lifelong resident of Summers County he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was of the Baptist Faith, worked for C&O Railroad and the WV Department of Transportation. "Alb" enjoyed gardening, hunting and spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Faye Ward; two sisters, Virgie Mae Ward and Louvinia Ward Walls and four brothers, Robert Alan Ward, Harry Harmon "Pud" Ward, Abraham Lincoln "Abe" Ward and Ralph Junior Ward .
Survived by his wife Anna Jane Thompson Ward at home; one son, Albert Wayne Ward at home; four daughters, Virgie Jollay of Burlington, NC, Brenda Ellis of Lewisburg, Karen Parker and husband John of Trenton, OH and Connie Weidner of Hinton; eight grandchildren, Autumn and Justin Buckland, Brandon and Kristen Ellis, Erin and Johnathon Parker and Jacob and Ben Weidner and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Benny Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Friend Ward Cemetery at Hix. Friends may call from 11:00 am until service time on Wednesday.
Grandsons and Billy Gross will serve as pallbearers.
