Thomas Lynn Maddy, 76, of Hinton died May 18, 2017 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. He was born May 13, 1941 in Hinton to Irvin S. and Marie Tallman Maddy.
He graduated from Hinton High School in 1959 and received a B.S. degree in Recreation from West Virginia University in 1964. After college, he worked for the WV Department of Welfare as a Social Worker and Quality Control specialist, worked as a teller for the National Bank of Summers, and worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service until his retirement. He was also a member of the West Virginia National Guard for six years.
Lynn was an ordained Baptist minister and served several churches in the Hinton area during his lifetime. He also sponsored the Bible Club at Talcott Elementary School for several years.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survived by two daughters, Krista (Matt) Vandall of Beckley and Kelly Maddy of North Carolina, one granddaughter Bethany (D.J.) Fernatt of Alaska, one great-grandson Xavier Fernatt of Alaska, two step-grandchildren, Tyler Vandall and Maria Losey, four step great-grandchildren Skyler, Shaylynn, Sailor and T.J. Also surviving are one brother Stan (Vicky) Maddy of Hinton, three beloved aunts, Dorothy "Dot" Westmoreland of Hinton, Ruth Noel of Hinton and Wanda Tallman of Riverside Rest, a niece Trisha Maddy of Idaho and a nephew John (Maria) Maddy of Peterstown.
Funeral services will be held at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 1:00 PM with visitation from 11:00 AM until funeral time. Pastor Scott Ross will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Burial Park.
