Denver W. "Dickie" Abshire, 77, of Talcott went home to be with the Lord, Monday, March 11, 2019 at his home following a long illness.
Born February 22, 1942 at Talcott he was a son of the late Denver W. and Marie Hodge Abshire and his stepfather Gene Sears.
Dickie was a member of the Rollynsburg Baptist Church. He was a former employee of the Federal Institute of Corrections in Alderson. Dickie loved fishing, playing music with his guitar and spending time with family and friends. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Dickie was preceded in death by his wife, Vernice Abshire.
Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Lisa Abshire Stalnaker; one granddaughter, Rebecca Stalnaker; one grandson, Daniel P. Stalnaker, all of Talcott; one sister in law, Ruth Russell of Hinton and one brother in law, Neil Graham of St. Albans.
A memorial service will be held 7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 14, 2019 with Pastor Dana Stalnaker officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 - 7:00 P.M.
