Daisy Katherine Willey, 91, of Hinton completed her life journey and went home to be with her savior on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Summers County ARH following a long illness.
Born March 27, 1927 at Crumps Bottom she was the daughter of the late Howard Porter Young and Molly Caperton Young.
Katherine was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hinton, the Fidelis Class, Summers County Hospital Auxiliary for 33 years and was named Auxilian of the Year in 2014. A homemaker who baked many delicious desserts for Kirk's Restaurant. Poll Worker and worked in a parachute factory during World War 2. One of the last survivors of the New River Community before the dam was built.
Preceded in death by her husband Charles Edward Willey on December 26, 1980, her son, Charles "Eddie" Willey on December 25, 2015. Five sisters and four brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Johnny Willey of Hinton, daughter, Kathy Rice and husband Wayne of Bellepoint, daughter-in-law, Connie Willey of Bellepoint. Seven grandchildren, Cubby Willey and wife Jennifer of Niceville, FL, Stephanie Elkins and husband Terry of Bellepoint, Lori Willey of Bellepoint, Cody Rice of Bluefield, WV, John Willey of Rangely, CO, Teresa Bauer and husband Jeff of Anderson, SC, Matt Rice and wife Leanne of Oak Hill. Eight great grandchildren, Cameron and Cole Willey of Niceville, FL, Kendall Willey of Bellepoint, Austin and Riley Rice of Oak Hill, Autumn, Aaron and Nathan Bauer of Anderson, SC one great great grandson, Easton Willey of Bellepoint. One brother, Howard Young Jr. of Buckner, Missouri. Several nieces, nephews and numerous care givers. Special neighbor Dennis Roberton of Bellepoint.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, March 22, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Hinton with Pastors Butch Honaker and Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Mills cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11:00am until time of the service on Friday at the church. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made to First Baptist Church, TeamKids at 108 Temple Street, Hinton or Indian Mills Cemetery at 4378 Indian Mills Rd, Forest Hill, WV 24935.
