Russell A. Gill, 82, of Marie went home to be with the Lord, Thursday December 18, 2014 at Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital following a short illness.
Born May 21, 1932 at Talcott he was a son of the late James William and Sadie Elizabeth Meadows Gill.
Russell was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a foreman for Penn Line Tree Cutting and Willey Brothers Well Drilling and Construction. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Russell enjoyed fishing, camping, and being outdoors. He was considered a "jack of all trades". He loved spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Lee Gill; one daughter, Kathy Little; one great-grandson, Brian Romanello; four brothers, William Walter Gill, Burnie Cecil Gill, Kenneth Nathaniel Issac Gill, Willard Raye Gill; three sisters, Madeline Violet Gill, Tressie Imogene Gill, Nellie Katherine Gill.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Wayne Gill and wife Betty JoAnne of Glade Hill, VA, Pam Rutherford and Husband Alan of Marie, Rebecca Cochran and Husband Kevin of Princeton, Melissa Allen and Husband Jamie of Marie; two brothers, Lee Gill and Iveta Graham of Ballard and James Gill of Hilldale; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several neices and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 21, 2014 with Pastor Joe Spencer officiating. Burial will follow will follow in the Elk Knob Church Cemetery. Friends and family will call from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Arrangements are by the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors of Hinton.
