Dempsey Shepard

Dempsey D. Shepard, 95, of Hix Mountain entered into eternal rest with the Lord, Monday, March 26, 2018 at Peyton Hospice House following a long illness.
Born June 24, 1922 at Tempa he was a son of the late Thomas A. and Mary E. Lively Shepard.
Dempsey was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and a former employee of O'Bryan's Store. He was a farmer who enjoyed tending to his cattle, horseback riding, riding horses in parades, the outdoors and going to cattle auctions. Dempsey was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Callie Vines and one nephew, Tony Vines.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Marjorie Garten Shepard at home; three stepchildren, Stephanie Garten of Nimitz, Barbara Holland and husband Timmy of Bellepoint and Jeffrey W. Garten and wife Dyneal of Talcott; six step grandchildren, Gregory Shawn Williams, Evan Patrick Williams, Eric Stephen Williams, Holly Harrah, Luke Holland and Ashton "Shyster" Wade Garten; two nephews, Tom Vines and wife Becky of Greensboro, NC and Ralph Vines and wife Margie of AZ.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Benny Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton. Friends may call from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral parlors.
Pallbearers will be Carlos Adkins, Brian Adkins, Dennis Bays, Gregory Williams, Leonard Cales and Jerry Gwinn.
