Darrell Gwinn

September 23, 1935 — August 8, 2016

On August 8, 2016, at Serenity Place following a long illness, Darrell H. "Dink" Gwinn, 80, of Jumping Branch went home to heaven on the wings of angels.
Born September 23, 1935 he was a son of the late Clyde H. and Ada S. Richmond Gwinn.
Darrell was a member of the Hinton Gospel Tabernacle having served as a Sunday school teacher and treasurer. He was the Head of maintenance for the US Corp. of Engineers at the Bluestone Dam with many years of service. Darrell enjoyed carpentry, cooking, baking, singing and the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Gwinn Cales and Vella Gwinn Hicks; two brothers, Russell Gwinn and Carroll Gwinn; first wife, Carol Wills Gwinn; daughter, Connie Gwinn Lane and step son in law, Mark Willis.
He is survived by his wife Bettie Gilpin Gwinn at home; four sons, Larry Gwinn of Aiken, SC, Danny Gwinn and wife Debbie of Nimitz, Timmy Gwinn and wife LeaAnn of Alderson and Randy Gwinn and wife Robin of McDonough, GA; two stepsons, Dennis Gilpin and wife Dawn of Hinton, David Gilpin and wife Laurie of Lincolnton, NC; stepdaughter, Donna Gilpin Willis of Wayside, WV; grandchildren, Samantha Gwinn, Sara Lucas and husband Chucky, Catherine Yancey and husband Joe, Timothy Gwinn II, Rhett Gwinn, Reese Gwinn and Gary Cook; step grandchildren, Jeremy Willis and wife Vicky, Shelley Akers and husband Brian, Justin Willis, Darrell Raines, Matthew Gilpin, Brian Gilpin, Seth Gilpin, Nathan Gilpin and wife Darian; numerous great grandchildren and step great grandchildren whom he loved dearly; two sisters, Alice Gwinn Redden of Beaver and Blanche Gwinn Adkins and husband Kenneth of Salem, VA; twin brother, Harold "Penny" Gwinn of Bellepoint.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Terry Weatherly officiating. Burial will follow in the Restwood Memorial Gardens near Hinton. Friends may call from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral parlors.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
